I was sitting on the couch in our sunny living room eating lunch when Roxy noticed the reflection that my butter knife was making on the ceiling. She immediately spazzed out and went into hunting mode. She showed her teeth and growled. Then she looked at me and gave a pathetic meow, trying to get me to help her get it down, then went back to growling. She paced for a good hour after it was gone.
Here's the proof. Beware, some of these are scary.
I took these last week as we were still packing up our condo in Chicago. John got a box from school that was filled with one long piece of brown paper. If stretched from end to end it probably would have been about 25 feet long. So we put it on the floor for Roxy and it was hours of entertainment.
Everything is going well in Omaha! I've got so many photos to share that I can't keep up with them. I'll send out an e-mail soon to everyone I know with our new address and home phone number. And there are a lot of people I need to catch up with by phone too, so expect a call.
This week Thursday's Theme at Picture This is "Imagine". Here's my take on the theme:
As I was trying to get the spinning penny shot from the last post, I got this one of Roxy who thought we were playing a game on the window sill.
This is my pick for My Best Shot Monday.
Tracey is talking about diagonals over at Picture This. Including diagonal lines in a photograph can make it more dynamic and interesting. Even though I know this is true, I often forget to break away from the norm and tilt the camera. I dug up two examples that include diagonals but they were accidents and fairly subtle.
(I don't know this kid, but he sure is cute)
I remembered that Tracey talked about diagonals last July when I first started reading her blog. This is the example I came up with then.
Thanks for the reminder Tracey, I needed it!
It's here! And it's fabulous! My new camera has arrived and I wish I could take about a week off work to play with it and learn what every little button does. I haven't had tons of time with it yet, but so far, I'm in love.
It's a Canon Rebel XT with a 50mm 2.5 compact macro lens. Hopefully I'll have more photos to post soon. But in the meantime, who do you think I've been practicing on?
I am choosing this series for My Best Shot Monday over at Picture This.
Roxy's first birthday was yesterday (it's an approximate calculation). Because I am a crazy pet owner, I helped her celebrate by sprinkling catnip in the bathtub and letting her roll around in it. While it was pretty funny and cute at the time, I wouldn't recommend it to other cat owners because it was a total mess.

In other news, GO BEARS!!!
The other day I had too much time on my hands so I recorded Roxy meowing a few different times, mixed them toghether and added an echo. It resulted in a very scary sound bite. Sorry for any nightmares you may have tonight.
Last week John was in Peoria doing some painting work for a relative. As usual my mom had a bag of fun things for him to bring back for me. It turned out that there were 3 black items of clothing in the bag. Because I wasn't thinking, I set it down on a chair and left the room for a few minutes.
When I returned I found this:

Thank goodness for lint rollers.
We have a special guest on the program today folks. Her name is Lucy and she comes all the way from Peoria, Illinois. She can be seen here in a full-on bench to cheek kiss. She's enjoying her outdoor visit so much her eyes are rolling to the back of her head.
Apparently Lucy's sister Shadow was not as interested in going outside. According to her owner she "came outside only briefly, then hissed and refused to be photographed. She immediately went back to bed." Excercise isn't for everyone Shadow.
According to Ryan's comment here, Roxy resembles the cougars he recently saw at the Portland Zoo.
Okay, so I have been neglecting Look Away a little bit lately but I intend to change all that! My HUGE audience deserves better.
Roxy does not seem to be getting any less cute, so I am going to continue obsessively posting pictures of her. However, I am going to give you more photos of things that are non-feline related.
To start things off, I give you...
Four Yawns in Four Minutes
Believe it or not, those really are four seperate yawns.
Okay, now on to our non-Roxy photos. On Saturday night John and I went to a party at a local pub where John demonstrated his best air guitar.
And was even so kind as to share his air microphone with Mark.
I'm back from all sorts of vacations but I am still too busy to post photos from them. They'll be coming soon though!
So in the meantime I am attempting something new. I'm going to post a short video clip of you know who. It's a couple of months old but that's just too bad.
And yes. That's a potato she's playing with.
