I hope everyone had a nice Christmas! John and I experienced our first Christmas at home this year. Usually we trade off going to Peoria, IL one year and Omaha the next. But since we live in Omaha now, we didn't have far to travel. It was a little strange on Christmas Eve to not have anything to do, so we just started our own traditions and it ended up being a very nice, cozy evening. We decided to make a chicken pot pie for dinner (our first attempt at a pot pie) and it turned out SO GOOD. We quickly started referring to as the Yule Pot Pie and might have to make it a tradition. Then we exchanged one gift from our stockings, followed by watching A Christmas Story. Then we headed out for an 11pm Christmas Eve church service. It was nice.
On Christmas morning we exchanged the rest of our stockings (our big gift this year was new living room furniture) and then opened the gifts that my family had sent us.
Roxy got a big shoe box for Christmas. She loves it.
Look! I'm a present!
So after sufficiently lounging around on Christmas morning, we gathered up a bunch of gifts and headed over to John's parents house for the day. We had a great time watching the kids open gifts (and opening some for ourselves), eating, playing games and just hanging out together. I think this pictures sums it up:
